Alex Brunner

Senior User Researcher

Alex Brunner is a Senior User Researcher at Sidewalk Labs.

Prior to Sidewalk, Alex worked at Google, where he led UX research projects for Cloud, Maps, and internal engineering tools, in addition to the technical implementation of large-scale Shopping ads. During this time, he also spent six months as a full-time research fellow at Médecins Sans Frontières, developing a machine learning application to fight antibiotic resistance.

Before his time at Google, Alex worked in a number of different organizations, including an NGO in Uganda and the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. He also co-founded a startup designing and producing temporary tattoos under the brand Young & Smitten in Ireland.

Alex was brought up in the Austrian Alps, and holds a MA in Philosophy from the University of Vienna and a MSc in International Economics from CEMS. He lives in Brooklyn, NY with his wife and tiny cat. He spends his days exploring different neighborhoods, playing basketball, and daydreaming about building a skiing hut.
