Before Sidewalk, Okalo was a Product Manager at Google for four years, launching new products and businesses. As the Product Management Client Lead at YouTube TV, he led product launches across tablet, TV, and Google Assistant platforms. At the Google Store, he led the product launch and growth of its new e-commerce platform across 25 countries and 50 languages. Most recently, he led product management and user experience design at Ally, a startup within Google’s Area 120 focused on connecting emerging markets startups with expertise and funding. Prior to Google, he spent four years at Microsoft, building out mobile search experiences (local, maps, personalization) across iOS, Android, and mobile web platforms.
Okalo holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, where he served on the boards of the Africa Business Club and Design Club, as well as founded the Africa Business Conference New Venture Competition. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, with honors, from Florida Institute of Technology.
Besides his passion for improving quality of life in cities, Okalo explores urban futurism as an amateur screenwriter in his free time. Originally from Nigeria, New York is his seventh city to call home, and he is looking forward to exploring all that it has to offer.
