Eric Jaffe is Editorial Director of Sidewalk Labs.
He previously served as New York Bureau Chief for CityLab, The Atlantic’s site devoted to urban life, where his own writing focused on transportation policy and the science of cities. In 2014 he edited a year-long series called the Future of Transportation, which explored what tomorrow will hold for metro area mobility.
Eric has contributed to many publications as a freelancer, including Fast Company, where he wrote a regular Co.Design column called Evidence. He’s also the author of two books, including The King’s Best Highway (Scribner, 2010), a social history of U.S. transportation.
Eric holds a BA from the University of Michigan and an MS in journalism from Columbia University. Originally from Washington, D.C., he’s lived in New York since 2008, and no longer knows if he’s a Washingtonian or a New Yorker.
